Yes… we beat LA. Congrats to the Boston Celtics for winning the 2008 NBA Finals!

Wooooooooooooooooo. What a great season. I can now die a happy man. I have seen the Red Sox, the Patriots, and finally now… the Boston Celtics win championships. The Rivalry was great since I have friends in L.A. that I’ve been harassing (~waves to minks~) - The score of game six proves it all. On that day, my BFF and I wore the same shirts to work. And I remember telling him…. 2 shirts means double the score and guess what? 39 point win. Check it out:

It’s been awhile but I’m somewhat back

It’s been pretty crazy these past few weeks. Everything from work to working out to just enjoying outdoor activities. Its been 3 weeks that I been working out with my friends at the BSC and wow… what a phenomenal change. The past month my schedule has been like this… Go to work, leave work, head to the gym, work out for 2-3.5 hours depending on what my psycho drill sergeant best friend has in mind. I would get home by 10:45PM-11PM then try to catch up on other work. But I’m down 13 lbs and I see a big difference in the mirror. My chest and arms are firming up pretty damn well. I been poking at my biceps a lot lately because they’re hard as a rock. ROFL. I feel much more energy now. Just the other day, I was limping from the leg/abs workout but things are paying off. I’m moving up on dumbbell weights and I was able to do a few 1 handed push ups again.

I actually got into a heated argument with my psycho drill sergeant friend the other day because he was getting annoyed with my bitching on some of the workouts. So it was like listening to him bitching about my bitching. It’s been a long time since I worked out. I lost a lot of strength, energy, stamina due to my personal issues that I was dealing with (which involved many restrictions). But my strength and energy are starting to come back. Problem with him is… he is impatient and has a bit of an anger problem. ROFL. I use to work out with him in the past and he didn’t complain like this. I remember going at my own pace. I remember one time when I was going up in weights and he even asked me if I were sure. I know the limitations of my body and what I can or cannot do - and right now, it’s playing catchup. But now it’s not just him and I working out. We also got another person with us so things are a bit different. The routine is different, more things are involved and to be honest, my stamina is not where it use to be. But we worked it out after arguing a bit in my cubicle. I am trying, I haven’t skipped out on any of the workout days… we been going 5 of 7 days per week.

So what else has been happening? Manny hit #500 and the Boston Celtics are in the NBA finals. I’m also getting some good results from my new trial contact lenses. Oh and work… Things are starting to slow down finally. I swear my head was going to explode there with all the things that were going on. I scheduled vacation time between June 9th - 13th so hopefully I can get my sanity back.

Another personal dilemma was about my career path… recently there was another opening in my company for a database analyst. Was I interested? Somewhat - It was a bit tempting and I can do database work. Why was it so tempting? Most likely the pay. I did some homework on salary.com and saw the pay difference. But hey… what’s an extra $20,000 anyways? haha. I had a chat with my friend lani about it and she agreed on my decision to not apply for it. Why? Well, I look at it like this… I like what I currently do (it’s challenging and i learn new stuff frequently especially with all this web 2.0/3.0 movement), I like my boss, my boss speaks highly of me (to the CEO and other big shots), he knows my potential, he knows I bust my ass, he got me what I asked for (in terms what how much I’m worth - let’s just say another 30% hehehe), he lets me leave early sometimes, I can wear anything I want to work, people don’t invade my space, i can listen to headphones while I work, and there are many other reasons. But mainly, I’m happy at the moment. If I switch to become a database analyst - I would get paid more but I would have a different boss, I would sit there and do more monotonous tasks, and things probably wouldn’t be the same. Yes the money would be nice but I’m sure I can reach that salary range in due time. I’ve only been with this company for a year and a half now and my work speaks for itself. It was quite a ride though, my brother’s best friend works for another dot com and wanted me to apply with his company. Then my friend introduced me to his co-worker who works for Channel 2 (WGBH Boston) who was looking for someone who does my kind of work. But you know what? I’m not ready to leave my company yet - maybe when I realize that I can’t go any higher, I might go elsewhere but for now… Thanh is pretty content. And do you wanna know why I’m so good at what I do? It’s because I know a little bit about everything - not only you get a marketing guy but you also get a developer, a good researcher, and someone who is business oriented. Those are a powerful mix. So I conclude this blog entry with…. I rather be happy and get paid less than unhappy being paid more. If you feel different… you can talk to D… (Who’s D?) Deeeeeeeez nuts!

The May Weekend Wrap Up

Well… let’s start from Friday, shall we? OK, while finishing off a day at work… the office folks usually sets up an hour to spend drinking wine and snacking on food. I had other plans - working out some biceps, triceps, wrist, and chest. I recently returned that Juggernaut pre-workout stuff to exchange it for the VPX N.O. Shotgun stuff that I read about on bodybuilding.com - So instead of drinking an entire scoop by myself, My boy and I decided to share 1 scoop because it seems like some powerful shit. Warning label stated not to drink more than 1.5 scoops per day - and the shit actually tasted good (Fruit Punch Flavor). How was it? Holy fucking shit, It was awesome. I was so pumped working out. I really didn’t need to take any breaks after finishing sets. It was insane. My heart was beating out my chest and it did increase my pumps. The two dudes that were doing cardio probably thought I was on steroids or something because I was pacing around waiting for my friend to finish his sets. After doing like 1.5 hours of working out, I began to drive home and holy shit I was still feeling pumped. I ended up just playing songs with heavy bass which led to my hands banging on the dashboard. This stuff is crazy good.

That night, I met up with the boys at Good Times Emporium where we caught the celtics game (they lost game 6). Although the celts lost, we had a pretty good time. It was a hilarious night because my boy Junior has got to be one of the funniest people on earth. I ended up bringing my camera in there before the night ended and took some great pics. Junior was making a ton of people crack up. He went from hitting on the cute waitress, changelling some white girls (to a dance off) on the dance dance revolution machine, to riding those 25 cent machine horse rides - the dude is entertainment. I’ll attached some pics later. We also played our favorite punching bag machine - Junior maxed out (at 922) after a few tries and after faking like he totally missed the bag, acting like he was stretching, and doing pushups to amuse the crowd. I ended up with like 860 as a max and I even made my knuckle bleed. Nobody makes me bleed my own blood. Hahaha (dodgeball). Then we went to Chinatown that night at Chau Chau City since it was like I dunno 2:30AM Maybe? Man has that place became ghetto… This place use to be a great place back in the days but man…. this place is filled with cops now. There was a table of black dudes (known coke dealers - how do I know? My friend arrested them before) - Well they were mad loud and the restaurant managers told them to leave, and one of them knocks over all the plates and other stuff on the table - then they started throwing chairs down the stairs. Yeah… It’s definitely ghetto now. With all the damage that goes on there, no wonder why our fucking ginger and scallion lobsters cost $60. That’s bullshit. Then I drove home and went to bed. ZzZzZzZZZzZz

Saturday - Woke up at like 3ish PM. I made plans to go to the 5th Wit in Boston with a few friend but ya know… plans change. Especially when everyone was still sleeping. Hahaha. So I decided to go with my brother to the gym to do some cardio - I kinda felt guilty about the late night meal. Man I haven’t sweat like that in a LONG time. Holy crap. I did cardio till I pulled my left calf muscle. It was only an hour but I coulda kept on going but I couldn’t move my leg for a good 5 minutes. I gave my brother some of that NO Shotgun stuff and he said when he got on the machine, his heart rate was already at 114. But I got home and spent Sunday at home relaxing because it been really busy at work.

What the hell… I’ll tell you about Monday as well. Fuck it.

Worked on Monday. Headed to Boston Sports Club at 6PM. Worked out with my boys Tionne and Den for a good 3.5 hours - I haven’t done so many damn sets in such a long time. We did like 4 sets of everything. Chest (flat, incline, decline), Biceps, and Triceps. All in all, we did well over 30 something sets with at least 10-15 reps (I think Den did 15-20 reps). But fuck… was I sore after. The scale showed that I lost 2 lbs. But I’m sure that’s just water weight. I really think something is wrong with my right shoulder though. Towards the end, I had a hard time pushing - It looked like my left arm was working but my right arm wasn’t. And I’m a righty so something is going on with me. So I ended up going down some weights because it’s all about control and finishing your sets. Don’t cheat yourself like my boy Tionne who thought he counted to 10 when I counted 8. Hahaha. I was so clowning him. Boys being boys. I got home close to 11PM and made myself a whey protein smoothee with soem glutamine otherwise I would be fucked today at work. I can feel some pain today but I know tomorrow it will hurt even more.

Pics coming soon. Check back later!

What a bittersweet night at Fenway

Damn it! We lost! But the atmosphere was great last night. Alot of people bailed on me but I ended up getting my boy Jose to meet me in front of Boston Beer Works. Its been awhile since he been to a Sox game so he was stoked. I waited quite a bit but he eventually showed up at 6:58PM. We entered Gate D and made our way to Gate C where our seats were located. It was my first time sitting in bleacher seats but wow… what an experience. I was right behind the bullpen and had a pretty good view from right field. I didn’t know that the wave starts from the bleachers - right under the JumboTron. But there was a couple guys about 10 rows up from us that were denouncing the wave. It was hilarious. When the wave was trying to build momentum, i raised my arms up and they were like “DO NOT DO THE WAVE” - “SECTION 42 DOES NOT DO WAVES” and then he crosses his forearms to form an X to the wave. It was awesome. Bleacher fans are the most fun - I must say. Then after the game, I went to Gate D to meet up with my sister and her boyfriend. Gate D is where the players exit from in their nice cars. I saw everything from Bentley Continentals to Mercedes G5 to other fancy cars. I was standing in a spot where nobody was around and I saw Julio Lugo and I shouted “LUGO!” and he was like “Whats up man” and I said whats up back to him. It was funny. I also saw  Varitek, Bucholz, Tavarez, Ellsbury to name a few. Then we walked about 2 miles back to where the car was parked way down at the end of Commonwealth Ave. But it was all worth it. Wicked cool night. Hahaha. Sweeeeeeeet.

Looks like I’m going to a Red Sox game tonight

I got access to 2 Loge tickets. I decided to swap my loge with my sister and her boyfriend’s bleachers since she has never sat close in a game before. Aren’t I the best brother?! Plus I already sat really close before.

My last trip to Fenway Park was a memorable one. I got a pair of tickets from a season ticket holder for the Mother’s Day Miracle game where we trailed 5-0 all the way into the 9th inning. As people were leaving around the 8th, I remember joking with those people by saying “Oh you guys are going to SOOO regret it when we come back in the 9th.” And guess what? We had 6 runs in the 9th inning. It was amazing. The seats were great. And we stuck around to see Big Papi’s lil boy run the bases plus we saw some other player’s wives. Alex Cora’s wife is hot. LOL. But as we departed Fenway that day, we tried to get on TV but failed - then we stumbled into Gate D (Where the players depart from Fenway). Wow I got to see all their fancy cars and saw many of the players up close. I remember shouting kunichiwa to Daisuke (Dice-K) and he looked back like WTF. Hahaha. It was great. When that moment was over, we walked towards the station and guess who we see next? Hazel Mae and Tina Cervasio. My best friend said “Hey rockstar” to Hazel and she said it back. It was a cool moment. And Tina Cervasio is unbelievably hot to me.

I was thinking of bringing my nephew to this game tonight but it’s pretty cold tonight and Tim Wakefield is pitching so this knuckle ball game can stretch the time of a game. And plus it’s a school night. I’ll try to snatch some tickets some other time for him and I to go… when it’s warmer and school isn’t a factor.

I called my friend Junior to see if he wanted to go but he is uncertain at the moment. So… if anyone is in the Boston area, and wants to hit up Fenway Park with me so we can streak the field (LOL, just kidding). LET ME KNOW!

And I’m free, free falling… ok… back to the gym

It’s been a pretty decent past couple of days. I am able to go out to wherever, whenever. I joined my friend’s family the other night for a going away dinner. He’s being deployed to Honduras for a couple of weeks to train for the Army. After work on Friday, we met at his house and then headed to Chinatown where we ate at Jumbo Seafood. It’s been awhile since I’ve been there but I’ll tell you… the food is still awesome. It’s definitely one of Boston’s best authentic Chinese restaurants. Although I don’t like the “new look,” the service and food is great. We use to be regulars there, and they gave us the red carpet treatment. But what did I eat? I’ll list them below. Lani is going to drool after reading this. And Lanmeister, we are definitely going there when your down here. - Homegirl aint afraid of authentic Chinese. Did I mention that she tried the hanging Peking ducks that you see in the windows of Chinese BBQ joints. Dude, we’re gonna be so fat.

1. Chicken Wings (It was for the kids)

2. Spicy Salted Pork Chops

3. Lobster (2) with Ginger and Scallion

4. Deep fried Flounder

5. Clams with black bean sauce x 2

6. Watercress (You gotta eat your veggies) x 2

7. Rice (Who eats Chinese food without rice?!)

I think that was it. But I could be wrong. There was so much food. I was stuffed. It totally fucked up my week of eatting healthy. (LOL) - I told my friend that I’m going to eat salads for lunch while he was gone in Honduras. So far, so good. For the past two days, I been going to this nice place where I order Greek Salad w/ Grilled Chicken. Let’s see if I lose any fatness. And I’m going to start hitting the gym again. My brother’s friend works out at the one close by me 4 days a week so hopefully I can get back into shape.

The Boston Celtics have to win it this year

It was an interesting first round of game 1’s… well… sort of. I couldn’t believe Detroit lost to the Sixers. Lebron James really lit it up. That dude is just amazing to watch. Is it just me or does the Washington Wizards have a reputation of shit talking which ends up smacking them in the face in the end? I don’t understand how Stevenson can call King James underrated. Lebron taunting him with the Tony Yayo thing was hilarious. He deserved that. But back to the only team that matters… the Boston Celtics. First half started off sort of slow. Paul Pierce hit a couple early sweet threes. Then the foul troubles came for Perk and Garnett which closed the early lead we had. Then Ray Allen lit that bitch up in the 3rd quarter. He was ill. I think he hit like 5 in a row or something like that in the beginning of the third. The celts ended up stretching the lead again and it helped calm me down a bit because I almost got worried. Last thing I need is another 2007 where the Mavericks lost to the 8th seed Golden Gay State Warriors. But the fourth quarter showed that the Celtics got an ill bench to backup the starters. Leon Powe came up with some pretty awesome highlight dunks. The only 2 teams that scares me in the East are the Wizards and the Pistons. But I think the Cavs will take out the Wizards and Detroit *might* be upsetted by the Sixers. I really hope the Celtics win it all this year. I’m still hurt over the Patriots. But man, this year has been awesome for the Boston sports scene. The Red Sox’s past 2 games were come back wins. The Bruins are in a comeback win situation. The Celtics are the number 1 team in the NBA. OMFG. And next year, the patriots schedule isn’t that bad. Can they do 16-0 again?!
Let’s go Celtics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
