Took awhile to make with all the craziness going on with my day job but I managed to get it done before his video came out. Things that are different in this one is the new MySpace slideshow widget and also the more customized youtube player. I’m also planning on venturing into newer designs. But lord knows when I will ever make time for that. Life has been pretty busy from Work to working out. But thats another blog for later.
I’ve been sort of busy and still haven’t added everything to my portfolio yet. So I’m adding this project, I done ages ago, for my friend Epidemic. He is an aspiring rap artist from Miami, Florida. Not only did I design his myspace, I also did his domain goepidemic.com (Go check out his first exposure mixtape - It’s dope!)along with cd covers, flyers, and t-shirts that were passed around during the world cup in germany. Can we say exposure? hehe. But yeah, I did tons of stuff for him.
Or you can check out the song that blew up from First Exposure:

So I logged in to myspace today to check an inquiry for a potential client and I noticed a bulletin for some Mariah Carey cover art contest. I threw something together real quick (about 10 minutes). Didn’t want to spend a lot of time on it (I’m not getting paid for it). Don’t know if I will win and I don’t really care. All that really matters is that she is amazingly hot and I will be glad to make her babies if given the chance (LOL). Seriously, am I the only one that found her stunningly uber hot to death in that new touch my body video? Mariah, if you’re reading this - let’s make some children.
I guess I really should be adding the rest of my work to this site. I guess it’s a good second addition to my portfolio, not to mention that I had to do some cosmetic changes today to the page. Myspace band profiles have this “SNOCAP” player that lets visitors buy music so I was called to duty to make room for this flash object. This is actually the 2nd layout that I did for her. On the left is a thumbnail of the first layout. If you want to see her latest layout, check below.
So a few weeks back, one of my clients contacted me with concerns about their page. I guess someone pointed out that the page doesn’t meet w3c standards. Had to be another designer because I don’t expect the average person to know what w3c standards are. So I got a bit defensive in the email and reassured the client that everything is fine. Reason why I got defensive? Because it’s a myspace page. You DO NOT have complete page control. Even a blank myspace page will not be standardized to w3c. First off, there isn’t even a DOCTYPE set in a brand new page and I’m not even going to get into the other reasons why a myspace page WILL NOT MEET W3C STANDARDS. You can run check from validator.w3c.org on a myspace url if you disagree. A normal user/band profile WILL NOT validate. And to be honest, as great as it is to have a standardized page, it’s not mandatory - try validating some of the big sites out there like google.com (click here to validate - it will fail).
Seriously, if you’re trying to sabotage my work. Find something more plausible like “He hires indian freelancers to do his photoshop work” or something. I think first time I touched photoshop was when it was at version 4.0 and learned HTML before CSS even existed - Plus, did I mention I make sites for a living full time for a multi-million dollar company?
If it renders fine for me and a bunch of other people but crashes only your browser, guess what bucko? It’s not me, it’s you. Upgrade your software like uhm… Flash player? Or better yet, go check your event logs you retard.
One of my latest projects done a few months back. Jared Cotter from American Idol (Season Six). Fun project for me. And I enjoy his music as well. The people in his camp were also great to work with.
