As some of you watchers of America’s Best Dance Crew may know by now, the Jabbawockeez have won. For their final dance, they did it without their mask and it made me wonder. Do you think that the Jabbawockeez would’ve won if they did not wear masks? For some reason, I don’t think they would have. I don’t even think they would’ve even made it to the last round. The masks gave them an edge. It was strong branding that made them so successful. Like what Lil’ Mama said, they started a CULTURE. The mask gave them their identity and it helps viewers identify them immediately. Representation. And once again, BRANDING. Plus great dancers too. And I will leave it at that. I’m glad they won. I’m not bias. I actually preferred them over the Hometown group Status Qou (I loved their “Crank Dat” routine - It was DOPE!). Jabbawockeez were much more consistent than many of the other groups. Personally, I was expecting Jabbawockeez vs. Kaba Modern. But man… Jabbawockeez are a gold mine. I mean, look at the merchandising posibilities. They have a strong audience now. Congrats to them! Bravo!
